MARRE project: KATERINA II system attached to POSEIDON Athos buoy
Date
27/02/2020
In the framework of the MARRE project, the detection system KATERINA II was attached to the POSEIDON Athos station in order to provide continuous measurement and monitoring of natural and artificial radioactivity. In particular, this data set will be used both to calibrate methods for measuring marine radioactivity through satellite methods, and to study the interaction of rainwater with seawater. The calibration and preparation of the KATERINA II system was done with the support of the MERL group, while the installation of the detection system was done with the support of the POSEIDON engineers and HCMR’s diving team. The system operated for the period November 2019 – February 2020.
